MUSEUM
The museum at Monte Cassino is comprised of almost 1000 period artifacts and tells the story of the famous Chapel of the Sorrowful Mother, known as the “Smallest Chapel in the World.” Built by the Benedictine monks that farmed the monastery’s vineyards and orchards from 1877-1918, the museum also features the history of the property as one of the first wineries in America.
The collection includes wine related items like tools, barrels, and an antique press that would have been used during that time. Religious artifacts include an 1880’s tabernacle, embroideries, carvings and paintings. Also displayed is an impressive collection of reliquaries.
The museum is only open by invitation, event rental and private tours.
